When Domenico Ghirlandaio and his family lived in Colle Ramole, the “Podere Grande,” as it was called, was a peaceful country home. The famous painters retired here to work on their masterpieces, to host their friends and other artists, or to relax far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The recent restoration of the estate has sought to preserve the harmonious uniqueness of La Bottega involving local craftsmen, skilled in the artisanal techniques typical of the Tuscan tradition.

A glance at Dimora Ghirlandaio’s La Bottega is all it takes to identify with the spirit of the noble families who came from Florence to stay in the hills of the Chianti area. Its structure, with the magnificent stone arches opening on the fountain with its pietra serena basin, is reminiscent of the Tuscan country homes of the time. This is a rural style that has been handed down through generations, from ancient times to the Nineteenth century, and has been brought back to life today in the lines and the materials of this unique accommodation.
The Ground Floor
Guests are welcomed into La Bottega by a magnificent wooden truss that stretches across the roomy living room. The wooden beamed ceiling, restored to its original color, the Impruneta brick floor, and an elegant decorative stone fireplace complete the Tuscan architectural style. Along with the living and dining rooms, the ground floor includes a well-equipped kitchen.
The Bedrooms
The two bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other with a kingsize bed, are both furnished with walk-in closets and ensuite marble bathrooms. The refined, soft-toned furnishings, the beamed ceilings, and the warm hues of the floors create an atmosphere of delicate refinement. The amber-toned lighting and the natural light filtering through the windows make these rooms even more welcoming.
