The Ghirlandaio Family's Oil from the Renaissance to the Present.
Olive cultivation is an ancient tradition of the Tuscan countryside. Each November, the family of Domenico “Ghirlandaio” devoted itself to the ritual olive picking. The olives were then milled to obtain the precious oil. To this day, Dimora Ghirlandaio produces italian extra virgin olive oil from our estate’s olives. During your stay at Dimora Ghirlandaio you will be able to sample our delicious extra virgin oil, one of Tuscany’s most iconic products.

Amongst the six accommodations at Dimora Ghirlandaio, il Frantoio welcomes its guests with the magnificent arches of the outer loggia overlooking a beautiful garden filled with the scent of herbs. The interior of the apartment has been artfully restored to obtain elegant halls and bedrooms in Tuscan style. The refinement of the finishings, the comfort of the rooms, and the furnishings are designed to offer a sophisticated stay in the Florentine hills marked by a jovial conviviality. The inner courtyard will make it possible for you to enjoy full privacy even outdoors.
The Common Areas
Entering il Frantoio from the loggia, you will be welcomed by the exquisite entrance hall, a warm and refined environment. The floor is made of boards obtained from discarded ancient wooden beams and preserves natural imperfections that further enhance its beauty. The whitewashed walls with finishings in pietra serena are a perfect counterpoint for the stone wall with the ornamental fireplace in pietra forte. The lintel of the door leading from the hall into the dining room bears the coats of arms of the Bigordi family, whose nickname was “Ghirlandaio.” One of the coats of arms displays a galloping knight holding the bigordo, an ancient jousting pole, the other depicts three garlands, or ghirlande. The dining room is an equally elegant and bright space, facing the inner courtyard.

Il Frantoio’s four bedrooms, three Double Bedrooms and one single, are furnished with great elegance and sophistication. The refined finishings and the comfort of these rooms make them the ideal spot to spend moments of harmony and relaxation. One of the bedrooms and a study are independent from the rest of the building and overlook the inner courtyard. Does Frantoio have a swimming pool?
Inside the Park of Dimora Ghirlandaio, you will find a magnificent 150 square meter swimming pool where you will be able to cool off while basking in the Tuscan sun, go for a swim or relax by the side of the pool while admiring the surrounding countryside. On the underground level of the nearby Renaissance Villa you will find a wellness area. In an evocative atmosphere of stone walls and wellness treatments, you will be able to allow yourselves some precious moments of relaxation.
